“How is this my fault”? “I tried my best” – Robert Sanchez reveals who to blame for his bad performance against Tottenham

Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s first-choice goalie, is currently the team’s biggest public opponent, and things aren’t getting any easier.

Sanchez made the first big chance of the match against Tottenham over the weekend when he put Benoit Badiashile under pressure with a poor pass.

Two awful goal kicks that went straight to Spurs players in our own half were among the other ricks that were to follow.

The issue isn’t limited to the odd poor kick or shady touch. It’s the way those errors instill terror in a young group.

It’s like to having John Terry lead your rear guard in reverse. Every time your goalie touches the ball, the opposing team’s supporters get enthusiastic, and your own team is starting to panic.

Furthermore, the Spanish goalie has attributed Chelsea’s defensive errors to the defenders.

Sanchez told reporters from Chelsea247.com following the match against Spurs that

“I tried my hardest; the keepers weren’t at fault for the first two goals.”Due to Cucu and a few opportunities from our poor build-up, we gave up two goals.

“It’s wonderful that we hold the ball, manage the game, and create opportunities. We then made a tactical adjustment at halftime, and we deserved to win the second half”.

Despite Sanchez’s patchy performance for the blue, Maresca has consistently supported him. He accuses himself of being the manager and asking his stopper too many questions when he makes a mistake.

A few missteps today won’t change Maresca’s mind, but ultimately the pressure to change from these cumulative mistakes will undoubtedly be too much for him to bear.
