Evening Standard’s Simon Johnson, a reliable source on Chelsea, has stated that the announcement on Callum Hudson-Odoi’s new deal with Chelsea should happen soon.
The 18-year-old winger has been engaged in protracted talks with his boyhood club about a contract that would commit him to Chelsea for five years.
The youngster reportedly felt underused during Maurizio Sarri’s tenure and has been asking for guarantees for a more significant role in the team.
As Frank Lampard rates him very highly, the agreement was, in fact, almost certain.
“The wait is nearly at an end. Expecting confirmation soon,” Johnson has tweeted while reposting his old piece about the negotiations.
Soon enough, photos of suited and booted Hudson-Odoi near Cobham appeared in social media.
Some users supposed that the player was posing with his new contract and the announcement should be imminent.
According to reports from BBC, the Times and Daily Mail, Callum Hudson-Odoi will sign a five-year deal and will stand to earn £100,000 a week.
He has also allegedly demanded the No.10 shirt, but it has proved to be non-essential, as the club confirmed that Willian will inherit this number from Eden Hazard.
During Friday’s press conference, Frank Lampard gave a very cautious update on Hudson-Odoi’s contract talks.
“The clubs are talking. We want him to stay, I want him to stay. We hope Callum stays, simple as that.”
