Huge boost for Chelsea as four players return from injury ahead of West Ham clash
Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, had a small selection from which to chose for the match against Bournemouth.
Many of Enzo Maresca’s midfield and defense men were out.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto, and Romeo Lavia have all resumed training, giving Chelsea a quadruple fitness boost.
Due to a thigh issue that he sustained in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace just prior to the international break, Gusto was unable to play for Bournemouth and was left out of the France Under-21 team.
Reece James has since been sidelined with a hamstring injury. In the absence of James and Gusto, Enzo Maresca had to play Axel Disasi at right-back against Bournemouth, where he had a poor game.
In midfield, both Dewsbury-Hall and Enzo Fernandez missed out against Bournemouth through illness. In the absence of Enzo Fernandez, Lavia and Dewsbury-Hall, summer signing Renato Veiga was handed a first Premier League start against Bournemouth.
Enzo Maresca will be glad to have back some of his key players ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off with West Ham.
