“I blame them for the draw” “They want to sack me” – Enzo Maresca reveals who to blame for Chelsea 2-2 draw against Ipwish town

After Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich, Enzo Maresca spoke at a press conference about the lack of support his team receives from the home crowd at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s tough because even in the first 20 minutes, at this stage of the season, if you are not able to score the first one then the game completely changes,” Maresca said.

“We conceded and it was not good enough for different things. In terms of I think we lost confidence because we conceded because of the environment.

“Our goalkeeper plays short and then he goes long for the second goal because of the environment [the fans].

“For sure, not but I understand,” Maresca added when asked if he wanted to see Sanchez go long.

“Sometimes you go long, it doesn’t mean you are going to control something.

“We are stronger with our fans and we are a better team. It’s up to them to decide.

“I didn’t say the environment is an issue for us. Today, in the moment where we are in a difficult moment, you can expect them not to be happy but in the same moment, we need them. The players need more support on the pitch.”

This is far from the first time when Maresca has called on Chelsea fans to unite around the team rather than be vocal in their disappointment during the game.

It did not work on Sunday when the team was booed off the pitch after the first half in which they conceded twice from the relegation-bound team.
