“I can see Chelsea winning the league with these two key players” – Shaun Wright-Phillips tells Chelsea to sign these two key players
Under manager Enzo Maresca, former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks his former team is only a few pieces away from winning the Premier League.
The Blues are currently in second place in the league standings, behind only Liverpool, after an outstanding start to the season.
After three seasons at Stamford Bridge, Wright-Phillips has been impressed by Chelsea’s development and believes that the arrival of two important players from the past might make them unstoppable.
“If a prime Thiago Silva was still there, if [Thibaut] Courtois was still there, then you’re thinking, Chelsea could probably go on and win the Premier League,” Wright-Phillips said.
He also praised Maresca’s approach to managing title expectations, emphasising the team’s ability to stay focused on their performances.
“The team has handled the pressure well by focusing on their games rather than getting caught up in the hype,” he explained.
Chelsea have largely flown under the radar this season, but their growing momentum has started to attract attention. Wright-Phillips is eager to see how the team copes with the increasing expectations.
“Now, everybody thinks Chelsea have an outside chance, so I want to see how they deal with that,” he added.
