Chelsea has officially announced the acquisition of Marc Guiu, a striker from Barcelona.
Chelsea fulfilled Marc Guiu’s €6 million release clause in order to sign him.
With one year remaining on his contract, Guiu, 18, decided to quit Barca and relocate to Stamford Bridge. Barcelona invited Guiu to sign a new contract, but Guiu declined.
Guiu has expressed his joy at joining Chelsea.
“It’s an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited,” said the 18-year-old.
“Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League.
“Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club.”
