Chelsea are not going anywhere in the Champions League with Kepa Arrizabalaga as their main goalkeeper, ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno argued.
The former Venezuela international is not impressed by the Spaniard despite his penalty save against Valencia.
“What I saw today is reasons as to why both of these teams, even if they advance in this competition, they’re going nowhere in this competition,” Moreno said about Chelsea and Valencia, too. “They have to defend better. They have to be more organised.
“And in the case of Chelsea, I know he made a penalty save, Kepa has to be better. I’ve turned the page on this guy. I don’t think this guy is for real. Too many goals in too many key moments and too many of those goals are too soft.”
The most debated incident among the Chelsea fans is Valencia’s second goal: in 82nd minute, Daniel Wass put a cross into the box that ended up in the back of the net with Kepa seemingly losing track of the ball’s trajectory.
Frank Lampard rushed to the keeper’s defence after the game: “It was a fluke because he didn’t mean to score and that makes it difficult for the goalkeeper.
“The cross came in too high and there was a feeling his hands were pulled away but I’m not sure about that. “The best person to ask is Kepa because he’s very honest with himself but we can’t look away from the penalty save because that wasn’t a standard save, it was a top-quality one.”
