“I have new four captains” – Enzo Maresca reveals Chelsea’s new captain after Reece James struggling injuries
Under his leadership, Reece James will remain the captain of Chelsea, while other players will also assume the role, according to Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
Reece James will serve as captain, according to Enzo Maresca, while Enzo Fernandez will serve as vice captain. He predicted Levi Colwill to be one of the two or three vice captains, as he disclosed there would be.
“Reece is the captain, then we have three, four more captains, like Enzo,” he said.
“The other day was clear. Reece was not there, Enzo was on the pitch and was the captain, so he is one of the vice-captains.
“I’m thinking to nominate one or two new captains, also to give them more responsibility so they don’t think they can’t be the captain because they are 20 or 21. Some of them have to take one step forward to have more responsibility.
“For example, Levi: he’s a young player with a fantastic profile. I love Levi, but in terms of personality, if he’s able to take one step forward he can become a complete player in all aspects. It’s just not Levi, I’m thinking about two or three more.
“I’ve said before I like all of them to be brave and take responsibility. In the end it’s only one who is captain for each game, but I like all of them to be brave enough to take responsibility.”
