Former Chelsea winger Jeremie Boga looked like he was going to fall out of relevance on this page when he signed for Sassuolo permanently last summer.
Yes he clearly had talent, which he showed on loan to the Serie A club last season, and yes Chelsea have a buy-back clause, but it didn’t look like it was going to be enough to keep us interested.
However, his form this season has been superb, and he’s one of the breakout stars in Italy in the last few months. There have been various whispers about Chelsea making use of their clause this summer, and the recent quotes from the player’s agent confirm that.
In quotes on Gianluca di Marzio’s website, Daniel Boga, Jeremie’s brother and agent, explained the situation:
“In December I met with Marina Granovskaia. She’s following his season with great interest. There are no concrete offers, but there’s strong interest,” he said.
“Barcelona asked me for information. I spoke to others but many clubs want him. Napoli? Certainly, but many called from France and England,” he went on.
It certainly sounds like Chelsea are ready to pay up for the 23 year old whom they sold for €3m last summer. Even if we end up paying €20m for him and selling him on for €30m in the same summer, it’s a no-brainer piece of business for us.
