“I told Enzo Maresca my problems” – Nicolas Jackson reveals 3 things he doesn’t do enough for Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson: A Potential Chelsea Addee with Future Growth Potential

Nicolas Jackson has proven to be a reliable addition to Chelsea’s roster for slightly over £30 million.

The Senegalese striker, who joined from Villarreal last summer, scored 17 goals in his stellar rookie season. Jackson can still do better in several areas, though, even with his achievements. For instance, his finishing has come under fire.

Jackson Admits He Has to Improve His Heading

Despite scoring two goals in the Premier League this season, including a header in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jackson acknowledges that he still needs to score more goals with his head.

Reflecting on one particular header he netted against Brentford last season, Jackson shared in a video on Chelsea’s official Instagram:

“Against Brentford, they were booing me, and I love the boos. Then, I scored two minutes later. It was good because I don’t score a lot of headers, but this one was high and an amazing header.”

Backheels and Dribbling Skills

Jackson also mentioned his love for doing backheels, recalling a clever flick that resulted in a goal last season. While heading may not be his strongest suit, his skill on the ground is clear. Standing at 6’2″, he thrives in dribbling and footwork, completing an average of 1.5 dribbles per game last season. Only Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke managed slightly higher averages within Chelsea’s squad.

Aiming for More Headers and Goals

While Jackson’s dribbling is a strength, there is a sense that he should be contributing more in the air. Given his height and ability, it’s an area that could see improvement. Fortunately for Jackson, Chelsea’s wide players, including summer signings Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto, will be providing quality crosses to help him increase his goal tally.

Sancho made an instant impact after joining, providing his first assist within 45 minutes, setting up Christopher Nkunku over the weekend. Chelsea fans will be hoping for similar link-ups between Sancho and Jackson moving forward.
