“I told the manager I want to leave” “Enough is enough” – Chelsea player reveals why he wants to leave club despite playing Club World Cup
Chelsea are currently in the United States with a very strong squad of players for the ongoing Club World Cup tournament, but one player has admitted he is looking at leaving on loan.
The Blues squad feels extremely strong right now, especially as they continue to bring in new signings such as Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
Enzo Maresca’s side are currently focused on the Club World Cup, where they are preparing to face Palmeiras on Saturday in the quarter-finals. Incidentally, Chelsea pocketed £29.5m for participating in the Club World Cup, and they continue to earn more significant funds with every round they progress.
It will be interesting to see the makeup of Chelsea’s group by the time the 2025/26 season arrives, though.
Aaron Anselmino admits he may need to leave Chelsea next season
Chelsea youngster Aaron Anselmino, 20, has admitted in an interview this week that he may need to leave the club on loan.
The Argentine defender made his first-team debut for the Blues earlier at the Club World Cup in the knockout win over Benfica. However, he faces serious competition for further minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Anselmino has explained that he’s spoken with head coach Maresca about the possibility of leaving the club to play more football. He told TyC Sports: “My idea is to stay at Chelsea, but speaking with the manager, I think it would be better to get more experience elsewhere. I think it will help me grow a lot as a player.”
Recent reports claimed that Chelsea are ‘highly likely’ to let Anselmino go out on loan in the upcoming season amid interest from Dortmund, Real Betis and Marseille.
While it was great for him to make his Blues debut recently, it’s hard to imagine he will get above the likes of Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo or Trevoh Chalobah in the pecking order just yet.
Anselmino has been bulking up in the gym with work in 2025. It now feels like the perfect time for the 20-year-old central defender to experience a loan spell in Europe for the first time in his career.
Like with a lot of Chelsea’s youngsters, fans should be patient with Anselmino.
The South American defender was signed a year ago from Boca Juniors, where he stayed on loan for the rest of 2024. Since then, he’s slowly been adjusting to life in England after joining up with the Blues.
Chelsea scouted Anselmino for months before eventually succeeding to sign him.
It will definitely be much more fairer to judge the highly-rated youngster once he’s had a proper taste of senior football in Europe, whether that’s in England or a different top league.
