“I want him out” – Enzo Maresca tells Chelsea to sell first-team star just one year after joining the club

Only a year after signing goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, Chelsea is apparently prepared to let him go.

After an outstanding season, the Serbian international signed a £12.5 million contract to join the Blues from the MLS last summer.

Following his December Premier League debut as a stand-in for the injured Robert Sanchez, Petrovic established himself as Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice keeper and went on to maintain five clean sheets in the remaining 2023–24 games.

However, Petrovic is notably absent from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the US due to a minor injury.

While he is expected to join the squad soon, his future at the club remains in doubt.

According to The Athletic, new head coach Enzo Maresca has raised concerns over Petrovic’s suitability for his tactical setup, prompting the club to consider offers for the 24-year-old.

Chelsea are exploring several goalkeeping options, although they have dismissed potential moves for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Burnley’s James Trafford.

Instead, the club has shown interest in Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen, who is highly regarded by Chelsea scouts.

As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Petrovic will stay and fight for his place or seek opportunities elsewhere.
