“I want to play with him” “Don’t sell him, he will improve” – Cole Palmer warns Enzo Maresca not to sell Chelsea star ahead of January transfer
By all accounts, Christopher Nkunku is enjoying a really terrific season for himself. Despite the fact that he was out for nearly a whole year due to injuries, he has been in good health and performing well. Indeed, he is the leader of the squad in terms of both goals scored (ten) and appearances made (17).
On the other hand, those two statistics do not quite tell the entire picture, which allegedly now also includes some rising displeasure on the side of the player, at least if the reporting from earlier this week from the Telegraph is to be believed. A vacation from international competition would not be complete without a little bit of gossip!
An amusing statement to write about the team’s greatest appearance-maker is “Increasingly frustrated with his lack of opportunities.”
With Enzo Maresca’s rotation approach, this was always going to be the issue that needed to be addressed. This is a wonderful approach to spread out minutes, keep players fresh, and keep them occupied and happy.
In principle, having essentially a “A” line-up and a “B” line-up is the best way to do all of these things. In the actual world, the most important thing is the number of minutes played in the Premier League.
Those are the ones that everyone wants, and Nkunku has less than 200 of them, even if we estimate that there is a fairly large margin for halt periods. And out of those 10 league appearances, just one of them was a start, and it was the very first game of the season for our team.
Cole Palmer has expressed his opinions regarding on how Nkunku is important to this Chelsea team:
“Nkunku is an excellent player, and I adore his style of play. He simply needs more playing time to continue to get better. I suppose the manager knows he needs more playing time, but we can’t tell him.
“He comes in and gets that tight space and scores for us as we seal the three points against Bournemouth, which I remember being a tough match. Additionally, I am able to feed him with numerous passes, through balls, and other methods he’s an important player. Cole Palmer also mentioned
Nkunku is one of the oldest players on the team, having reached the age of 27. In addition to this, he is under a contract that is comparatively shorter, since it is just for another 4.5 years, which will last until 2028-29.
According to a story from The Telegraph, Chelsea would only consider offers that were comparable to the amount that we paid to RB Leipzig in 2023, which is around fifty million pounds.
