If Blues sign £76 million forward, Chelsea will sell Nkunku this January

Chelsea could make a major move in the January transfer window, as the club is reportedly targeting Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani. The French forward, who joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt for €75m (£64.2m) plus €15m (£12.2m) in add-ons last summer, has struggled to secure a regular spot under Luis Enrique this season.

According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea are expected to contact PSG in the coming days to explore a deal for the 26-year-old. Kolo Muani has started just two games in all competitions this term and was excluded from PSG’s last three matchday squads.

When asked about Kolo Muani’s situation earlier this month, PSG manager Luis Enrique said: “I could speak about it but I won’t because my decisions say it all, even if as I have said, all of my decisions can be changed.”

Chelsea are reportedly drawn to Kolo Muani’s versatility and his ability to play across the front line as they aim to bolster their attacking options. Despite avoiding major injuries to key attacking players so far this season, the Blues are currently without Mykhailo Mudryk, who has been provisionally suspended following a failed drugs test.

Should a deal for Kolo Muani go through, Chelsea may look to offload Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman, who has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona, is said to be growing unhappy with his limited Premier League minutes since his summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea would face stiff competition for Kolo Muani, as several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, RB Leipzig, Galatasaray, and AC Milan, are also keen on the forward. Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Kolo Muani on loan as they seek reinforcements following Bukayo Saka’s long-term injury.

Manchester United are also monitoring Kolo Muani’s situation, with new manager Ruben Amorim preparing for his first transfer window. Meanwhile, United are reportedly also interested in PSG’s Nuno Mendes.

Chelsea fans will be watching closely as the transfer window unfolds, with the potential arrival of Kolo Muani signaling a bold move by Enzo Maresca’s side. However, the potential departure of Nkunku, should it happen, would raise significant questions about the club’s attacking plans for the rest of the season.
