‘I’m not surprised with what Kepa did’ – Edouard Mendy finally reveals
Kepa Arrizabalaga becomes Chelsea second choice after having some bad form as Edouard Mendy became the club’s number one since signing up for Chelsea.
However, There were fears that Chelsea will struggle in the absence of the reliable Mendy, but Kepa held firm while Mendy was away at the African Cup of Nations.
Kepa’s performance was top notch especially inthe FIFA Club World Cup where he made a penalty save in the semifinal, and Mendy has hailed the Spaniard for his form, insisting that he wasn’t surprised.
Mendy also admitted that he has a good relationship with the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
Mendy said: “My relationship with Kepa is good since I came here. We have a good relationship on and off the pitch.
“He did really well when I was at AFCON, but it didn’t surprise me because I saw him every day at training. I was super happy for him because he deserves it.
“When you play for Chelsea, you’ve competition in every position, so you have to give your best and play at your highest level to be in the team at the weekend.”
