“I’m so excited to be here” – forward says after OFFICIAL Chelsea transfer deal announced

Dion Rankine, a forward, has signed a three-year contract with Wigan Athletic from Premier League team Chelsea.

The 21-year-old made his professional football loan debut last summer at Exeter City after making eight appearances for Chelsea U21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. There, he was an immediate success.

The player, however, decided that his time at Chelsea was up and decided to look for a move. Wigan swiftly reached out to arrange a transfer for the young youngster.

And after making the summer move – Rankine has opened up and admitted just how excited and delighted he is with the switch: “I’m so excited to be here,” Dion expressed.

“It’s been in the works for a while, so I’m really excited to be here and get the deal done – I can’t wait to get out there in front of the fans now.

“It’s the right step for my career. I feel like I’ve got a really good opportunity to progress and develop, and I just want to play the best football that I can here.”

“It’s amazing. I’ve been to the training ground, and I’ve seen the stadium here, which is beautiful. When I was here last season with Exeter, I was taking pictures and thinking that the stadium is really nice, and hopefully, I can get playing as soon as possible.”

With one final message to supporters, Dion added: “I can’t wait to see you all soon and be out there in front of you all, and hopefully, get some goals and assists.’
