Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has taken to Instagram to reveal that he is on crutches after sustaining a knee injury against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Fabregas featured in the first-half of the Blues’ penalty loss against his former side, but was unable to continue and was taken off at half-time.
The Spaniard has been excelling in Maurizio Sarri’s possession based system during pre-season. This injury is a setback for him in his quest to nail down a starting spot.
The severity of the damage done to Fabregas’ knee is yet unknown, but it doesn’t look good.
He posted the below image on his Instagram story. There is no strapping on the knee itself, but he is walking on crutches.

This essentially rules him out of Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City. Danny Drinkwater is the most likely candidate to replace him in the middle of the park.
