Italian opens up and confirms Chelsea are working hard to sign £100 million powerhouse defender this summer
Fabrizio Romano has opened up and claimed that the likes of Chelsea are still interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for Kalidou Koulibaly.
Regarded as one of the best central defenders in world football right now, Koulibaly is a player that has been linked with a move to the Bridge for many transfer windows now, but a move has never been able to get done.
That is because Napoli like to play hard-ball when it comes to their best players and did not want to sell their star man for anything less than £100 million, a fee that most clubs, including Chelsea, did not want to pay.
The Italian Journalist has opened up and claimed that Premier League clubs are still interested in the powerhouse, while also admitting that Bayern Munich are not currently working on a deal for the defender.
He Tweeted: Bayern Münich are not working to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, as of today. Premier League clubs are still interested as last summer, Bayern have not started any talk with Napoli or Koulibaly agents atm.
There is no doubt that Thomas Tuchel has a world class squad, but adding another premium centre-back to that defence will make Chelsea serious contenders for that Premier League title next season.
And the fact that Koulibaly only has a couple of years left on his current deal means that they may be able to get a deal done for less than that £100 million price tag.
