“It’s a big problem” – Lampard tells Enzo Maresca one major problem he needs to solve to be successful at Chelsea
Frank Lampard, a former Chelsea manager, has pointed out a significant issue with the squad now led by head coach Enzo Maresca.
Because Maresca’s team is primarily composed of young players, Lampard predicts that there will be “inconsistency” in the Chelsea lineup.
The former England midfielder talked following Chelsea’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace, which ended in a 1-1 tie.
Chelsea had lost 2-1 to Servette in the Europa Conference League and defeated Wolves 6-0 in the Premier League prior to the match at Crystal Palace.
“Inconsistency will be there – young players bring that,” Lampard said on Match of the Day 2.
“If you look at moments in the game where Chelsea are on top, maybe they aren’t clinical enough and then you can always feel the game can swing on them.
“You do wonder if that bit of experience through the spine of the team is not there and you will have to wait for that but there is certainly a lot of talent in there.”
