Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia want to make a “statement signing” before the end of the January transfer window, says transfer expert Duncan Castles. However, Frank Lampard is yet to make any new addition to his inconsistent Blues squad.
However, Castles says Chelsea’s priority now is to strengthen in the attacking wide areas.
Chelsea want to sign Borussia Dortmund and England star Jadon Sancho and Abramovich and Granovskaia are said to be keen on making a deal happen this month.
“One of those strong options for them is Jadon Sancho.
“My understanding is the club, i.e. Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia, are very keen on taking Sancho.
“They’re keen on making a statement signing now that they are able to work in the transfer market again and have a lot of resource to spend in this window.
“They see taking a young England international, who has very high status in England because of what he’s achieved at Borussia Dortmund and in the national team, as a good way to go forward.”
