The blues have been linked with several signings following the removal of their transfer ban in January. They are interested in three different wingers according to ESPN. These are Jadon Sancho, Hakim Ziyech, and Wilfried Zaha. Who should the Blues go after?
Jadon Sancho, the 19-year-old is arguably the most wanted footballer on the planet at the moment. You can see why. He has scored seven goals and assisted the same number in just 11 league starts for Dortmund this season. That’s more than a goal contribution per game, and he is only going to get better, with age on his side.
He is likely to acclimatize to the Premier League well, as he grew up in Manchester City’s youth system, is English, and is close with the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea. The only sticking point will be his price tag and the interest from other top European clubs.
Hakim Ziyech has been unstoppable for Ajax in recent times. After helping to fire them to a Champions League semi-final last season, he has only got better this season.
The Moroccan has five goals and 11 assists in 15 starts for Ajax in the league, and a further six goal contributions in five Champions League encounters. He is seven years older than Sancho, but this could mean Chelsea would get a more experienced and well-rounded player straight away.
The Moroccan did recently sign a new deal with the Dutch giants and may prove very expensive. Also, his performances in the Eredivisie may not transfer if he were to move over to England. Wilfried Zaha is the only man on this list with proven Premier League experience. He has been plying his trade in the United Kingdom for his entire career and is well versed in facing some top Premier League defenders.
The Ivorian is tricky, direct, and possesses the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck. Palace is likely to be the club with the least bargaining power when it came to the deal, so Zaha could be where the value lies for Chelsea. However, he has scored just twice in the league this season and has only one assist. These are not encouraging stats for Chelsea fans.
