Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says the Blues still have ‘a long way to go’ to perfect Sarriball despite making an unbeaten start to the season under their new manager.

The Blues are third in the Premier League table and already showing glimpses of the spell-binding, fast-paced possession football Maurizio Sarri, and midfield general Jorginho, were so noted for at Napoli.

However, the Italy international believes the side still have a long way to go to totally understand Sarri’s philosophy, particularly in the defensive side of things.

‘I think we’re only at the start, we have a long way to go,’ Jorginho told the club’s official website.

Asked in what ways Chelsea still need to improve, he explained: ‘In that I think we can do a lot better in our defensive game.

‘In the transition phase when we lose the ball. We can I think press much more quickly and allow fewer counter attacks.

‘They are little details that bit by bit we’re hoping to sort out.’

Manager Sarri agrees with his midfielder, and believes fans have only been treated to a small slice of the attacking, pulsating style he coaches.

The Italian explained: ‘We have big margins of improvement. We’re playing in part the football we want, but not at the right speed – we need to work on that.’
