Spurs new coach, Jose Mourinho is eyeing Chelsea forward Willian in the January transfer window. Tottenham have contacted agents of Chelsea attacker regarding a January swoop.
Chelsea winger is out of contract at the West London club in the summer and could be convinced to play for his former manager Jose Mourinho across London.
The Blues policy of offering players over 30 one-year deals could see the Brazilian forward making move to the London rivals. Transfer expert Ian McGarry believes that the Blues boss, Frank Lampard would ideally like to keep experienced forward at Stamford Bridge and negotiations are ongoing.
However, Jose see the 31-year-old as someone who could strengthen their squad and Jose Mourinho is keen to make additions this transfer window.
McGarry told Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast: “This is a very sensible and almost logical move for Tottenham Hotspur. “They have contacted the representatives of Willian, the Chelsea winger, he’s now 31, he’s in the last six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
“There have been negotiations in regards to keeping him. I think Lampard is relatively keen to have him re-sign because he’s used him a lot this season and he has actually produced some exceptional performances but Willian wants security in terms of the contract.
“Tottenham would certainly provide, at this moment in time, a very viable option, and potentially a two-and-a-half year contract.” Willian has played 20 Premier League games for Frank Lampard’s side and scored four goals while assisting four times as well.
