Journalist confirms Chelsea to announce a five year contract today with Italian man agreed to join Chelsea

Reliable reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that all the paperwork for the £10 million Chelsea transaction has been signed, and the club plans to make an announcement today.

We’ve all been waiting for this confirmation, and today will finally bring the much-reported transaction to Chelsea fans.

Today, Enzo Maresca, a Leicester City native, will be named as the new head coach of Chelsea. It hasn’t exactly been a secret; every media outlet is aware of it, and it has been officially confirmed for a number of days.

However, Ornstien claims that the contract between Maresca and Chelsea, together with the arrangement for Chelsea to pay Leicester the £10 million, was just formally signed yesterday, despite several trustworthy media claiming that this was all agreed upon days before.

The young coach is joining Chelsea on a five-year deal, which includes a club-held option to extend by 12 months.

Maresca will be bringing six of his own staff with him — Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javier Molina Caballero and Roberto Vitiello.

But they will also be integrated with Chelsea specialists such as Ben Roberts, Hilario and Bernardo Cueva.

It will be great to finally see the announcement from Chelsea today so we as fans now know where we stand and who will be in the dugout officially next season and hopefully beyond.

Maresca has a very tough task on his hand to try and bring Chelsea back to challenging at the very top of the league again, but it looks like the club have a lot of belief in this appointment and they want to change the style of football played at The Bridge.

The Italian will integrate a possession-based style of play and will get to work on that in pre-season.
