Reliable Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has provided an update on Chelsea’s efforts to convince Eden Hazard to sign a contract extension.
Terreur has been keeping us up to date throughout the summer on the latest developments surrounding the future of our talisman.
Many of us thought that this would be the summer Hazard would jump ship and pursue his dream move to Real Madrid, but the move never materialised.
Chelsea were clearly intent on keeping Hazard, with Real Madrid not willing to pay Neymar-esque cash to sign the Belgium international captain.
Hazard remains, but with less than two-years remaining on his contract. We’re at risk of being backed into a corner once again. Thibaut Courtois did it and got his move.
Losing Hazard in the same manner would be a real shame, and Chelsea are not prepared to watch him walk out the door without putting up a fight.
Terreur has revealed that, though no talks have been held to date, Chelsea will attempt to convince Hazard to sign a new contract.
Chelsea will at one point offer Eden Hazard a new deal and start contract talks, but they haven’t actually sat down as yet.
