Kepa Arrizabalaga opens up on life at Stamford Bridge

CHELSEA goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has opened up on life at Stamford Bridge.

Kepa joined the Blues from Athletic Bilbao in the summer, becoming the world’s most expensive goalkeeper after Chelsea paid £72million for the Spaniard.

He has looked solid as Chelsea have made an unbeaten start to the season, topping the table alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

It’s come under new boss Maurizio Sarri who replaced Antonio Conte during the summer.

And 24-year-old Kepa has spoken about his early experiences in west London.

“The Premier League and La Liga are very different,” Kepa said.

“The style of play is different, the person training me is different, everything is different and new.

“But all in all, so far I feel very happy.

“I think I’m adapting very well to being in the team, which is the most important thing, and I’m really looking forward to spending a long time in the Premier League with Chelsea.

“You need a little time, the usual sort of time it takes to get to know your team-mates and the league itself, but it’s all good generally, I’m very happy.”

Kepa had spent his entire career in Spain before his move to Chelsea.

He went to the World Cup with Spain however did not make an appearance with Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea their No 1.

Kepa came to Chelsea after Thibaut Courtois made the move to Real Madrid.

And the new Blues No 1 also explained why he decided to make the move to Chelsea.

“Leaving your environment, and the place where you have grown up, is always going to be difficult,” Kepa added.

“But I felt moving to Chelsea was an important step in my career so that’s why I wanted to do it, but of course I will always be grateful to Athletic Bilbao for all the years I spent with them, and for all they’ve given me.”
