Lampard forced to speak on coaching Chelsea after losing to Aston Villa

Frank Lampard has failed to guide Derby County to the Premier League at the first attempt as the Rams seem stuck in the Championship.

After the final whistle, Frank couldn’t escape a Chelsea-related question as rumours earmark him as a potential Maurizio Sarri replacement.

“I’m not interested in the speculation. I’ll speak to Mel Morris, the owner, in the next few days when the dust settles and then we’ll see how it goes. I’ve got a two-year contract and I love working at this place, but we’ll see.”

Before the Championship promotion final, Lampard said: ”It’s been a bit of an obvious link all season. We’ve had a good year and I get linked because of my 13 years with the club.

I understand the link but in terms of how I’m seeing it, I don’t want to think or talk about it. I want to talk about Monday, I want to talk about the team and get this over the line.”

Former Chelsea captain Dennis Wise believes John Terry will be ahead of Lampard in the Stamford Bridge.

When do you think Frank is ready to coach Chelsea? Now, in one, two, five, ten years?
