“Leave if you want to leave” – Enzo Maresca told Chelsea star to leave club in January
According to Football Insider, Chelsea is apparently willing to let midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall leave the team during the January transfer window, with Aston Villa and former team Leicester City among the interested parties.
Dewsbury-Hall paid £30 million to join Chelsea from Leicester City in the summer, but he has had trouble fitting into Enzo Maresca’s starting eleven. His few chances at Stamford Bridge have caused some to question his long-term position in the team.
Both Leicester and Aston Villa are monitoring the situation closely. Leicester, in particular, are keen to bring the midfielder back to the King Power Stadium, where he enjoyed significant success prior to his Chelsea move. Villa, meanwhile, see Dewsbury-Hall as a potential addition to bolster their midfield depth.
As Chelsea assess their squad options for the second half of the season, the club may decide to sanction his departure if a suitable offer is tabled. Whether it would be a loan or a permanent deal remains unclear, but a move could provide the player with the regular playing time he currently lacks.
