According to Sky Sports, Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare is set to join between signing for Manchester United or Chelsea before the transfer deadline.
London rivals Arsenal were also in the race for the 20 year old but have now dropped their interest in the midfielder.
However, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia are also no longer interested.
Chelsea and Manchester United have held talks with Lille over the transfer of the player but no decision will be made before Lille’s Ligue 1 clash against PSG on January 26.
Soumare played against Chelsea in the Champions League and has been likened to United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Soumare is valued at around €50-60m. He has two and a half years left on his contract at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium.
The 20 year old came through the youth system at PSG, before moving to Lille in 2017 to pursue a spot in the first-team.
