“Make this signing & Challenge for the league title” – Pep Guadiola tells Enzo Maresca the key signing he must make this season for him to challenge him for the PL title
After Chelsea loses 2-0 in their Premier League match against Manchester city on SUnday, Enzo Maresca hasn’t proven to be the best candidate for the managerial role at Chelsea.
In the run-up to his first Premier League season, Pep Guardiola has asked Chelsea to be patient with Enzo Maresca, his former assistant.
After just one season in charge, Mauricio Pochettino left the Blues, and the Italian was named their new head coach in June. Thus, since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased the team in May 2022, Maresca is the club’s fourth manager.
The former footballer for Juventus and Sevilla led City’s under-21 team to Premier League 2 championship in 2021 before accepting his first senior management role at Parma, a Serie B team. His stay in Italy was brief, though, as he returned to Manchester City at the beginning of the 2022–2023 season, this time as Guardiola’s assistant.
But if the Blues want to see success from the Italian forward at Stamford Bridge, Guardiola has asked them to be patient with him after Sunday’s Premier League opener against Maresca’s Chelsea.
“It will work, I advise Chelsea’s owners to give him time,” Guardiola stated at Friday’s pre-game press conference. “It’s true that all managers require time? I’m not sure if Chelsea is the best environment to make deals, but I have the impression that if you give him enough time, it will work.
Meanwhile, Pep Guadiola tells Enzo Maresca what he needs to get this season to give him a run at the Premier League title race.
“I don’t see them finishing in the top four this season unless Enzo Maresca signs these player if he is truly determined to challenge for the League title.”
“Chelsea should sign a key striker like Haaland who can score goals and kill matches on his own”
However, According to several reports, But Victor Osihmen is the only striker Chelsea is interested in signing, and the Blues are working hard to make this happen.
