Mason Mount sets an ‘Incredible’ Chelsea record after being named captain against Luton

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was named captain for the first time in his Chelsea career for our FA Cup game against Luton at Stamford Bridge.

The 22 year old midfielder is Chelsea’s youngest captain since John Terry way back in 2002.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted Mason Mount is fast becoming Chelsea’s new untouchable.

Lampard declared: “He’s crucial – and there’s always a fine balance in this job as to when you can rest players that are crucial to the team.

“At the moment, Mason is playing well, so he’s a player that stays in the team for that.

“People talk to me about changing the team and why. But when playing well, I have no problem keeping them in.

“Of course, at some stage you will look for moments to rest them because of the amount of games that we play.

“But on the flip-side, Mason is as fit as they come. He trains, he rests, he does everything professionally right.

“So, if anyone can handle the games and minutes, it’s Mason.”
