Mauricio Pochettino wants to start 22-year-old Chelsea star in upcoming games – reports
Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is now looking to the rest of his squad for who to start in upcoming games.
According to the Evening Standard, the boss now wants to give Armando Broja some starts in the coming weeks as he looks to get some results out of his side as the fixtures begin to mount up.
Broja has been back on the bench in recent weeks after he seemed to suffer a setback in his return to full fitness originally.
The striker was out for the best part of a year after an ACL injury ruined his season back in December last year.
While he scored on his return to the side against Fulham, he has not yet displaced Nicolas Jackson as a regular in the first team.
The Senegal international scored four goals in the two games before the international break, and therefore earned his place in the side that travelled up to Newcastle last weekend.
Broja to start more
However, he was again a non-factor in the heavy defeat, leaving many to believe that the manager should be looking elsewhere for his number nine.
Pochettino could reportedly be considering this, with it being claimed now that he is keen to see more from the Albania international in the coming weeks.
The Blues are preparing to face Brighton this weekend as they look to bounce back from that rough defeat on Saturday.
This could be the perfect opportunity to give Broja his third start of the season, with Chelsea facing an opponent who will have just been in action three days earlier in Europe.
The rumours still lead towards Chelsea pushing to bring in a striker either in January or at the end of the season.
