Maurizio Sarri already decided who he want at Chelsea in January

Standard Sport reported that Chelsea will be in the market to shop for a new centre-back when the transfer window reopen in January.

The need for a new centre-back at Stamford Bridge was lessened by the re-emergence of David Luiz, but according to Standard Sport, that didn’t stop the Blues from pursuing another centre-back.

Juventus’ defender Daniele Rugani, who has continually been a transfer target for Chelsea over the summer is the man in Chelsea’s radar. But no move was materialised, which made Sarri to stick with the options he already had at his disposal.

One would be thinking Chelsea wouldn’t fancy a move for a new centre-back with Ethan Ampadu and Andreas Christensen crying out for playing time. Even with that, Standard Sport understand, that a new, and young, defender is on the shopping list of Maurizio Sarri come January.

But in actual sense, a move for a new centre-back be bizarre from the club to say the least. The money could better be invested to other area in the squad, like in a new striker, something that Blues are in dire need of with the two striker’s Morata and Giroud not firing at the moment.

Eden Hazard has been the player that deliver goals for Chelsea so far in the season, and for a club fighting for the title, a sharp striker is need.
