Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Eden Hazard will stay at Chelsea for the whole season, irrespective of whether bids come in for him.
Hazard was linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer. It gave us fans sleepless nights. Rumours of a sizeable bid being made and Hazard’s openness to moving to the Santiago Bernabeu – it could have all ended in tears.
Thankfully from a Chelsea perspective, it didn’t. Hazard is still a Chelsea player following the closure of the Premier League transfer window, which essentially rules out any sale. We’d be unable to replace him no matter the amount of money received in return.
Sarri has confirmed that he’s going nowhere. Not only this summer, but also in January. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, Sarri is quoted by the BBC saying:
“I cannot sell without the possibility to buy another player at the same level. So I think Eden will stay with us for the whole season.”
This is great news. Although, we pretty much knew this anyway.
