Chelsea named a soft side against Hungarian outfit Vidi in their Europa League clash on Thursday.
The Blues settled for a draw when Olivier Giroud leathered a powerful strike from a set piece into the back of the net, as Chelsea topped their group to cross into the competition’s knockout stages.
Chelsea have had to rely on their back four this season. Maurizio Sarri’s choice of playing David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger in the centre has paid off really well. Chelsea’s skipper Caesar Azpilicueta has remained resolute in his berth and so also Marcos Alonso.
While the former has not been pounded heavily with harsh criticisms from fans, the latter has been fed faint doses of it.
Alonso may be great at the left back berth, there is no hank about that however, it hasn’t rubbed out the fact that he’s still feeble at the backline.
The Spain international has garnered a lot of admiration from Chelsea fans, but fans want Sarri to give Emerson Palmieri a chance, following his brilliant performance in Chelsea 2-2 draw against Vidi.
The Italian international is faster, says fans. He may not be amazing defensively, but the Italian is more fluid in attack, claimed one fan.
