Mauro Icardi transfer: Chelsea boosted as striker is fined

Chelsea chances of landing Mauro Icardi have been given a boost after he was fined by Inter Milan for turning up late for training.

Blues chief Roman Abramovich has given the green light to a massive overhaul at Stamford Bridge in a bid to transform them into title challengers.

Inter hitman Icardi is one of the names on their list as they look set to offload Alvaro Morata to Sevilla.

The Blues are also in talks over Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain, while Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is on their radar as Maurizio Sarri looks to boost his firepower.

Icardi has a £100million buyout clause in the deal he signed at the San Siro in 2016.

However, he has so far failed to sign the new deal on the table, putting some of Europe’s biggest clubs on red alert.

And the 25-year-old has now upset Inter chiefs after arriving late for training after their winter break.

He failed to show after reportedly being delayed flying back to Italy from his homeland.

Corriere Dello Sport claim Icardi was still fined, despite informing club chiefs of his travel troubles.
