Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed Liverpool and Chelsea target Nabil Fekir is close to signing a contract extension at the French club.
Winger Fekir was on the brink of a £53million move to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds last summer before the move broke down.
Chelsea were then reportedly interested in taking the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge in January but failed to agree a swoop.
Fekir is currently contracted at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais until the end of next season.
But Aulas has let slip that Fekir, who has netted 10 times this season, is locked in talks over a fresh agreement with Lyon.
And Aulas said Lyon are getting closer to extending Liverpool target Nabil Fekir’s contract, saying: “We have made some advances in Fekir’s contract extension, we are discussing it and soon I’ll have to see Nabil, we aren’t in the final stages but in any case we have advanced.”
The president of Olympique Lyonnais has said Kylian Mbappe made a mistake by not joining the club when he was younger.
Mbappe recently said that he and his Paris Saint-Germain teammates were going to support Lyon in their Champions League clash with Barcelona next week, adding “we need French football to go as far as possible”.
And Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has thanked the striker for his support but took a dig at the striker rejecting the club as a youngster.
He said: “I thank Mbappe for his support, but when he was younger he did not choose the right training centre. I have a soft spot for him, he’s an extraordinary footballer and the future for him is being the best footballer in the world.”
Lyon are the only side to have beaten PSG in Ligue 1 this season, beating them 2-1 at home earlier this month.
