According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Napoli are prepared to cash in on highly sought-after centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this summer but the Partenopei would only consider selling him for a fee of around £100 million.
“What I’m being told is that Napoli are prepared to sell him this summer,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News. “He’s one of the most sought after central defenders in world football.”
Chelsea, Man United and Man City have all been linked with the Senegalese stalwart in recent times but Solhekol feels that Napoli’s massive valuation could prompt the English clubs to drop their interest, while mentioning PSG as a possible destination for the defender. “We know clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United are looking for a centre-back this summer,” added Solhekol.
“I think it would be difficult for him to come to England. One of the issues is the valuation.
“The Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is a notoriously difficult man to negotiate with. He always wants top dollar for his players. “I think he will be looking for about £100m for Koulibaly and he’s going to be 29.
“Will a club like Manchester City or Chelsea or Manchester United really want to sign a 29-year-old defender who doesn’t have much resale value? “I think it’s much more likely that he will end up at PSG in the summer. “They’re willing to double his wages to around £200,000 a week.”
Koulibaly has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world since his move to Napoli from Belgian club Genk back in 2014, clocking up 232 appearances for the Serie A outfit.
