“No desire to play” “He cost Chelsea the game” – Troy Deeney slams Chelsea star for costing Chelsea 3points in Fulham clash
Troy Deeney, a former Watford player, has blasted Levi Colwill for not bringing Chelsea back after they lost 2-1 to Fulham in their Premier League match. On Thursday, December 26, the two sides clashed at Stamford Bridge.
Cole Palmer broke the stalemate in the 16th minute, putting the Blues in cruise control. But goals from Rodrigo Muniz (90+5′) and Harry Wilson (82′) in the second half made sure Fulham won for the first time at Stamford Bridge since 1979.
Muniz netted the winner following an exceptional counter-attack by the visitors. However, Colwill notably failed to track back in time as he didn’t sprint back to aid his team in transition.
Deeney wasn’t impressed as he stated on BBC Final Score (via The Chelsea Chronicle):
“It’s so poor from Chelsea defensively. Levi Colwill doesn’t even break into sprint and has no desire to get back. It is well played from Fulham. They’ve planned for this and he’s got the goal.”
Despite his lapse in concentration, Colwill has been one of the Blues’ best defenders this season. The 21-year-old was also decent against Fulham, providing one assist, winning seven duels, and making five clearances (via FotMob).
