“No game intelligence”, “Always frustrated with the ball” – Pundit tells 23-year-old Chelsea player to learn Football intelligence
Former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker, Carlton Cole has slammed Mykhailo Mudryk as a player with ‘no game intelligence’.
Cole’s assessment of Mudryk comes after Chelsea’s 6-1 thrashing of Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup.
Mudryk had started the match for Chelsea, but couldn’t finish it, as he was hauled off by Mauricio Pochettino after just 45 minutes, with Noni Madueke coming in as his replacement.
To be fair to the Ukrainian, who has already provided four goals for Chelsea so far this season, that match might be his worst in a blue jersey, but unfortunately, Cole didn’t hold back in criticising his contribution for the duration he lasted on the pitch.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Cole said of Mudryk: “He’s always frustrating. I just don’t get it. He’s obviously got potential but how do you get the best out of him? If Poch can’t do it, it’s going to be hard.
“He’s got the attributes. He’s got no game intelligence. It’s raw [ability] but it’s just reading the game.”
Mudryk has shown that he has plenty in him to become a fantastic player, but he needs to have more faith in himself, and work on his ability to make the right decisions.
We do believe he’d come good eventually.
