The Blues are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo before the transfer window ends this month.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have an almost free run to sign Dani Olmo who had previously interested other English clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Goal had stated that Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona were favourites to sign the 21-year-old playmaker ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United but the injury to Luis Suarez has changed their stance on signing him.
The Uruguayan international has underwent knee surgery and rehabilitation will take at least four months thus effectively ruling him out of the business end of the current campaign.
Mundo Deportivo revealed that the priority for Barcelona has moved from signing Dani Olmo to finding a replacement for the aforementioned Luis Suarez. This development has left Chelsea as the frontrunners to sign Spanish international player.
Recent reports disclosed that Chelsea made an offer for the player at the start of this month.
For now, the only January signing at Chelsea is young midfielder Bryan Fiabema.
