OFFICIAL: Another Chelsea midfielder leaves Chelsea today
Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Carney Chukwuemeka on loan, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist confirmed the deal, tweeting: “Borussia Dortmund agree loan deal for Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea, here we go!” He further detailed the terms of the move, revealing that a “loan move and buy option clause [are] included for value higher than £40m release clause.”
Romano also reported that Chukwuemeka’s “salary [is] covered until June and loan fee also included. Medical on Monday.”
The 21-year-old midfielder has struggled for regular game time at Stamford Bridge, featuring in just five matches under Enzo Maresca. His only start came in the UEFA Conference League against Astana, where Chelsea fielded a heavily rotated squad.
Signed from Aston Villa for €18m in 2022, Chukwuemeka showed glimpses of his potential but was hindered by injuries and managerial instability. Dortmund’s interest offers him a fresh opportunity to develop at a club known for nurturing young talents.
