Chelsea showed character to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium last month as the Blues came from behind to snatch all three points away from home.
Chelsea will now host the Gunners at Stamford Bridge on January 21, and the Gunners will be without their captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for this game.
Aubameyang was shown a red card in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
Aubameyang’s first half goal in the 12th minute had given the Gunners the lead but Jordan Ayew pulled Palace level in the 54th minute.
However, the Arsenal striker was given his marching orders in the 67th minute for a dangerous foul on Max Meyer.
Centre referee Paul Tierney had initially shown a yellow card to Aubameyang for his challenge on the Palace midfielder, but after a VAR review, the Arsenal captain was then shown a red card for his challenge.
Aubameyang will now miss Arsenal’s next three matches, the third of which is an away clash to Chelsea on January 21. The Arsenal skipper will also be unavailable for Arsenal’s clash at home to Sheffield United next Saturday, as well as their trip to Bournemouth in the FA Cup fourth round on January 27.
