OFFICIAL: Chelsea announce signing of attacker in a five year deal as 11-goal winger also completed summer move

Marc Guiu, a forward for Barcelona, has now officially joined Chelsea after his €6 million release clause was activated.

The 18-year-old has committed to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal, with an additional 12-month option.

The Spaniard will be one of Enzo Maresca’s striker options for the upcoming campaign, along with players like Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, and Deivid Washington.

During his tenure with Barcelona, Guiu made seven appearances in the first squad and scored twice, including on his senior debut.

He is the latest teenager to join Chelsea since Todd Boehly became owner in 2022, with Omari Kellyman, Carney Chukwuemeka and Romeo Lavia among the others. In addition, both Kendry Paez and Estevao will join the club when they turn 18 in 2025.

Reports suggest that Guiu has attracted interest from several Spanish clubs, who are interested in signing him on loan, but it remains to be seen if he is given a role in Chelsea’s first-team next season.

He made his Spain U19 debut in March, having netted 10 goals in 17 appearances for his country’s U17 side.

In addition to his two strikes for Barcelona’s senior team, Guiu also bagged seven goals and four assists in 20 games for Barcelona Atletic last campaign.

Guiu told the official Chelsea website: “It’s an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited.

“Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League.

“Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club.”

Omari Hutchinson has left Chelsea and completed a permanent transfer to Ipswich Town, it has been revealed today.

CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Town and helped the club secure promotion to the Premier League.

He made 50 appearances in all competitions and ended the campaign with 11 goals and four assists. After previous spells in our Academy, Hutchinson returned to the Blues in the summer of 2022 from Arsenal.

‘The young winger featured regularly for our Under-21s throughout his debut campaign and his development was recognised as he earned two caps for Jamaica.

‘Hutchinson also made his Chelsea debut in a Premier League fixture against Manchester City in January 2022 at Stamford Bridge. He then faced the same opposition three days later in the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium.

‘The young winger joined Ipswich last season to gain further first-team experience and enjoyed a stellar campaign in which he was named Championship Player of the Month for February and ended the season with Ipswich’s Young Player of the Year award.

‘We wish Omari well as he begins a new chapter in his career and thank him for all his efforts while with the Blues.’
