Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has officially confirmed his retirement from professional football. It happened live on Sky Sports TV.
He was in the studio as a pundit for the build-up to Chelsea’s Premier League home clash with Leicester City when he delivered the news.

Last season, Cole played at Derby County under the helm of current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
He left the Rams as a free agent, hinting at possible retirement.
Now he has apparently moved on, working this season as a pundit and in various ambassador roles at Chelsea.
In his time with Chelsea and Arsenal, he has won three Premier League titles, eight FA Cups and the Champions League.
