Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a new contract at Chelsea, the club have just announced.
It’s the best piece of news we could have possibly hoped for. Just under a year ago we looked almost certain to lose one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents for free – to Bayern Munich of all people.
Now he’s on the books for another 5 years at least, and the relief around the club and within the fanbase will be enormous.
His injury obviously played a huge role in the changing fortunes of this agreement, as did the replacing of Maurizio Sarri – who to be fair had eventually been convinced of the winger’s talents – with Frank Lampard and the associated youth revolution.
There even seems the possibility he plays next week against Grimsby in the cup. He’s trained for a while now, and even played in an U23 game last week.
A new five-year deal for @Calteck10! 🖐

After a long hard summer of rehab, he’s ready to return and we cannot wait. Seeing him unleashed against some cloggers in the cup will be a job to behold – but let’s hope they go easy on him!
The reception he would get would be fantastic, and with injuries affecting most parts of our team, it wouldn’t be a moment too soon.
