“Pay €80 million & get him in summer” – Chelsea told to sign 20 goals a season striker

Chelsea’s search for a prolific striker this summer could lead them back to Samu Aghehowa, but the Blues will need to meet Porto’s hefty valuation if they hope to secure his services.

According to reports from Fichajes, Porto will refuse to accept any offers below €80 million (£67 million) for the 20-year-old Spanish forward, who has been in scintillating form this season. The Portuguese giants may even demand his full €100 million (£84 million) release clause, making any potential deal a significant investment for Chelsea.

Samu, who joined Porto from Atletico Madrid last summer, has been one of the standout strikers in European football this season, scoring 20 goals and registering three assists in 33 appearances. His record in the Portuguese league is particularly impressive, with 14 goals and three assists in just 21 matches.

Chelsea were close to signing Samu last summer when he was still at Atletico Madrid, but the deal collapsed at the final moment. Porto capitalized on the situation and secured his signature, and he has since flourished in Portugal.

Now, Chelsea may have to battle Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as Barcelona, for the young striker’s services. Arsenal are desperate for a new No. 9, while United could also enter the race if they secure Champions League football. Barcelona, meanwhile, view Samu as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and the player may be tempted to return to Spain after failing to get a first-team opportunity at Atletico.
