Kepa: Looked very confident in goal and was well protected by his defence. Handled everything that came his way with relative ease. 7/10
Azpilicueta: Solid captain’s performance and kept Raheem Sterling quiet until Guardiola decided to take him to City’s right flank. 7.5/10
Thiago Silva: Calm and composed in the centre of the back three until he picked up a back injury late in the game. Marshalled the defence very well with so much experience. 8/10
Rudiger: Solid display from the German. He has really been very impressive under Tuchel, and his distribution today was topnotch. 8/10
Reece James: Gave one stunning cross to Chilwell in the first half, but the left wing-back didn’t use it to good effect. Solid in the right wing-back position, pressed hard and went forward when he needed to. 7.5/10
Chilwell: He has been very consistent of late, and has now slowly won back his place from Marcos Alonso. Missed one good chance in the first half, but was brilliant nevertheless. Found Hakim Ziyech with one fine pass from deep, but the Moroccan couldn’t convert. Showed that he can also defend when the team sat deep late in the second half. 7.5/10
Jorginho: Had a very good game. The Italy international was good on the ball and created the angles to help the team keep possession which would allow for good movement to hurt the City defence. He surprised everyone with a very solid display as he did the defensive job with pinpoint accuracy. 8/10
Kante: Covered lots of ground and worked hard in the middle of the park. Some of his passes today really went astray. 7/10
Mount: Very fine performance from the academy graduate. Troubled Fernandino for most part of the game. He was good on the ball, good on the break and worked hard as well. Gave a fine pass to Timo Werner who then played a square ball across the penalty area for Hakim Ziyech to tap in. 8/10
Ziyech: Had a very good game and was a creative spark upfront, but he could easily have scored a brace. Was in the right place to score Chelsea’s only goal, and missed a glorious chance moments later to add a second which was saved by Zac Steffan. 8/10
Werner: Used his pace very well at the Wembley ground, and was frustrated at times with his teammates for delaying the pass. Easily went past Ruben Diaz to play a ball for Ziyech to score the opener, and had one moment when he burst forward with pace, but didn’t have the legs to fire a good shot. 8/10
Subs: Pulisic: 69th minute sub for Mason Mount, but didn’t have the kind of influence the manager would have expected. Had a fine goal correctly ruled out for offside. 6/10
Havertz: 77th minute sub for Werner. Did his bit but couldn’t do much as Chelsea sat deep to soak the pressure from Manchester City. 6/10
Emerson: Came on for Ziyech in the 77th minute and played further up the pitch. 6/10
Zouma: 86th minute sub for the injured Thiago Silva, and still did well within that short period, with some fine clearance.
