“Please sell to us we love him” – Manchester United confident they can revive £50m Chelsea player’s career
Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho from Manchester United during the last transfer window, bringing him in on loan with a buyout clause.
In the previous summer transfer window, Chelsea permitted one of their players to join Manchester United after selling Mason Mount to their Premier League rivals.
It appears that the two English heavyweights may do even more business together, with United reportedly interested in one Chelsea player.
United could rue allowing Sancho to join Chelsea. The 24-year-old has impressed at Stamford Bridge so far, registering three assists in four games. However, Tony Cascarino did criticise Sancho’s last outing, feeling that he was too cautious in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United make Ben Chilwell their top left-back target
Despite reported interest in the summer, it has been claimed that United never made an approach for Ben Chilwell. It could be a different story next year, though.
According to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils have identified Chilwell as their top target for the left-back position.
The 27-year-old has had a fall from grace at Chelsea, but the same outlet claims that key figures at United believe that he could revive his career at the club.
Chilwell had been frozen out of Chelsea’s squad before being allowed back in after the closure of the transfer window.
Ben Chilwell can revive England career if he joins Manchester United
Being third-choice left-back behind Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga, Chilwell needs to get out of Chelsea.
He now has added motivation to leave as well, with Thomas Tuchel set to become England manager.
Chilwell was Tuchel’s first-choice left-back when the German was at Chelsea, so if the £50m defender joins United and gets regular game time there, it is likely that his former boss brings him back into the England fold.
All in all, if Chilwell leaves Enzo Maresca‘s side, he could end up reviving his career at both club and international level.
