Pochettino told £3m striker he wants at Chelsea has potential to become the next ‘Drogba’

Mauricio Pochettino has been told that he could bring the next Didier Drogba to Chelsea in Adama Bojang.

That is according to the Gambian’s agent – Sacha Empacher.

So, what was said about Chelsea target Adama Bojang? Let’s take a look…

according to the Evening Standard – Chelsea are keen to sign the £2.6m striker from Steve Biko FC.

Bojang recently put his name up in lights with some outstanding performances at the Under-20 World Cup, where a few wonderkids already snapped up by Chelsea, such as Cesare Casadei and Kendry Paez, also impressed.

Now, the Blues have been told that they could get their hands on the next Drogba if they sign the 19-year-old.

Empacher told Sky Germany: “Adama is the best African player I’ve seen in the last decade.

“He has the potential to become one of Africa’s great forwards. Along with Drogba, Eto’o, Salah and Osimhen.”

Of course, these comments must be taken with a pinch of salt, as Empacher is Bojang’s agent, and will obviously talk him up in the media.

Nevertheless, nobody can deny that the teenager looks to be an incredible talent.

Bojang scored within 30 seconds against Honduras at the Under-20 World Cup, before netting again later in the game to secure a 2-1 win.

The Evening Standard add that Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Liverpool, RC Lens, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are also interested in the Bakau-born prodigy.

Chelsea have ideal destination for Adama Bojang

If Chelsea do win the race to sign Bojang, it feels unlikely that he will go straight into Pochettino’s first-team.

However, Todd Boehly has just completed a 100% purchase of Strasbourg, opening up a pathway for Chelsea to send promising talent on loan to France’s top-flight.

Strasbourg finished 15th in Ligue 1 last season, but seemingly know how to get the best out of forwards, with Habib Diallo scoring 20 league goals, while Kevin Gameiro netted ten.

Therefore, Bojang could also thrive at the French outfit, before returning to Chelsea once he has developed his skills.
